How to join the club

OAR provides an opportunity for adults at any experience level to enjoy rowing on Budd Inlet. Club membership is not required for Junior Program participants.

Adult members who are certified can row alone or with other members any day and at any time during daylight hours. Single rowers should avoid using the dock during the beginning and end of coached practices. We keep a log book in the boathouse where members sign in and list the time and day they row. New scullers can sign up on Saturdays and Sundays to go out with experienced rowers. Once they are comfortable on the water, we encourage new rowers to get to know each other so they can row together for safety and support.

New to the sport?
If you are new to the sport, you must take an adult Basic Sculling Class or adult Learn to Sweep Class in order to be eligible for club boat use.

Already a rower?
If you are an experienced rower, but new to OAR, you must complete a brief check-out with an OAR board member to be eligible for club boat use.  Simply contact one of them for more information.  The following four adult membership forms will be required:

Masters Information Sheet
OAR Membership Application
OAR Swim Test Form
OAR Waiver Form
US Rowing Waiver (separate from the OAR waiver) For insurance purposes, all OAR members must have a 2019 current US Rowing Basic Membership ($9.75 fee) even if you do not plan on participating in races. Check your status now–it should take less than 5 minutes. The code for our club is ‘LMACX’. You will only need this code if you have not been a US Rowing member before.

The swim test may be completed by contacting the pool of your choice. Some suggested pools are:

The Evergreen State College 360-867-6536
The Valley Athletic Club 360-352-3400
Briggs YMCA 360-753-6576

Membership dues for 2021
$525/year for an individual
$795/year for a family
